Embrace Hard Things

An Insight from In the Room

“I realise now, that there are some challenging conversations that I need to stop putting off.”

The reply from someone else was, “Since when do we back away from the hard things?”

To get to the treasure, you need to fight the dragon.

We choose to do what we do, precisely because it is hard. It is the nature of building a business and is part of the game.

Sitting around a table or talking about hard things is easy.

It is when we are in the trenches, facing the dragon, that we experience what hard means.

It is our mood when we are anxious, stressed or depressed.

It is when our cash runs out in 2 weeks and we need to make serious changes.

It is the difficult conversations.

It is those weeks when we need to work 18 hour days.

It is making those choices that hurt us or the people we love.

It is the emotional labour of building and growing something important.

In those times it can help to remember that it is our choice to embrace hard things and this is what doing important things is all about.
