Be Hard to Beat.

An Insight from In the Room

“I am very productive at the moment, but my attention is all over the place.”

Be consistent and relentless.

Performance comes from consistently and relentlessly executing on the strategy and the goal.

But there are implications here:

Do you have a clear strategy?

What is the priority for the next week and quarter?

Do you know what the most important task is for today?

Does the daily task feed the quarterly priority and the overarching strategy?

It is easy to thrash, and work on whatever is thrust at you, but that is not consistent.

It is easy to get excited and inspired and smash out a day of excellent work, but that is not relentless.

It is hard to say no to the shiny new thing and the current urgent demand.

It is hard to ignore those things and grind out your important daily work.

But that is what it takes. And we embrace hard things.

And as our own, Mike Scott says, “It is hard to beat the person who falls in love with the boring.”

Be consistent and relentless, and you will be hard to beat.

“The grit that matters most is learning to be your best when you’re at your worst.” - Josh Waitzkin

“One of the surprising discoveries of modern psychology is how easy it is to be ignorant of your own ignorance.” - Daniel Dennett
